Leglocks are the hottest topic in Jiu Jitsu right now!
If you follow EBI, Metamoris, Polaris, and many other submission-only tournaments, you know that Leglocks are a huge part of the game.
They have been neglected for many years in most Jiu Jitsu schools, due to fear of possible injuries, and also to comply with the IBJJF rules, which still runs the biggest tournaments in our sport.
But over the past few years, with the rise of the sub-only tournaments, I’ve seen more and more students interested in learning them, even if their school doesn’t really cover them as much.
With that in mind, my student Dr. Mike Piekarsky, DPT and I decided to release a video series explaining anatomically how Leglock submissions work, which structures they attack in our body, and safety tips for injury prevention.
The first video of the series covers the kinematics of the Straight Ankle Lock, and you can watch it here.
We are gonna release one video per week. The order will be Toehold, Kneebar, Knee Reaping, and Heel Hook.
Stay tuned.
