“For the first video in our MMA series, we have an excellent partner stretch for the neck using just your belt! This can be held for 10-60 seconds and it should be very relieving. If it hurts too much, have the person reduce the pull or stop doing it and consult a professional!

Many of our MMA patients come to our office with neck pain and nerve pain down the arm. The positions in sports like Jiu Jitsu put the head in severe forward head carriage and ultimately straighten the cervical spine (shown on Xray). If you think this belt stretch is dangerous, consider that your neck gets put under extreme tension during your sport.

This stretch can be done with any strap or band by anyone, not just the MMA community. 󾍇Again, if you have any preexisting conditions, consult your chiro/pt before doing this stretch.”
